Gaia - On Love
Is this written in the POV of the character? Yes
What is Love to you?
Section titled “What is Love to you?”Love is somewhat akin to a fervent fire, suffocating in the way it continues to burn. Yet the heat is rather desirable in most cases, comforting and bright with its existence.
…Ha. Didn’t expect me to go all flowery like that, hm? I’m a song writer too, you know? Let me be poetic for once. But what I said is fairly true to me, regardless of what you think.
How Are you when in Love
Section titled “How Are you when in Love”Well, to be in love would mean to be ready to put myself down for them, you get what I mean?
From grounding touches to playful teasing, Phoebe is a sister first and a lover second. Her love is that of the trailing smoke from a scented candle, pleasing and comforting to whoever lit her up. Forever present, forever attentive, she listens and she cares.
To think she expected something loud to come from her heart. Something to match the energy of her stage shows and her music. But perhaps this smothering feeling of absolute want would be for the best. An addiction to care she could never get rid of, now would she choose to.
Habits
Section titled “Habits”Oh, habits? Well, do morning cuddles count?
Calling her affectionate would be an understatement, because really, physical affection and time together is how she shows her love. She’s nothing if not dedicated, writing songs about those she cares for, and going above and beyond to ensure they’re safe. If anyone worms their way into her heart, she’ll never let go.

…why not both? Is there no way I can choose both?
(Her heart is too big to choose one or the other. How could she when both are much too important to her? Isn’t it cruel to force her to decide?)

…Definitely her.
A Gun on Their Hand, Pointed at Their beloved.

Truly she didn’t expect this to happen. Not when everything is meant to be put to rest. Sure her family had to have underground connections to stay on top for this long, and sure there are so many children within the dark underbelly of the city that are left to fend for themselves.
But never did she wish for her of all people to be involved in this.
He handed Phoebe the gun, raising her arm before she could protest. Her heart hammers in her chest, sweat dripping down her forehead.
Of course her hands shake, who wouldn’t when they’re forced to shoot? She just wishes it wasn’t her.
“The clock ticks, Gaia. What’s your play?” It’s rather cruel for him to use her stage name right now. But at least they’re asking for the performer instead of the lover… not that it’s any consolation.
There are many facets to Phoebe, as much as she’ll deny it. There’s the daughter, the lover, the sister, and the musician. And before that, there was the honor student and the runaway. Too many times has she shuffled through faces and too long has she juggled through needs and priorities and danger and—
Breath. He needed Phoebe, the lover, to disappear in favor of the musician. The brash and performative musician who treats everything as an opportunity to shine. But what’s there to shine about in this very stage? How could she perform and the sight of her quivering will be forever seared into her eyes.
Yet she cannot drop the gun. She knows she cannot. There’s no predicting what the man would do if she let go of the revolver for a second. And so the steadies her arm as best she could, the muzzle points square to the chest. Or perhaps the abdomen. The gun is heavy in her hand and she cannot decide for the life of her.
She doesn’t want her to die. She really doesn’t want her to die. But can she shoot him instead? Surely if he dies they can run free and report everything to the authorities—
No. That’s out of the question. He’s… he’s human too, isn’t he? And it’s not like they’ll do anything either…
God, she just wants to scream.
